October was a milestone month for the DICE project, marked by two key events that have further solidified our commitment to promoting Digital Community Engagement in higher education. These activities represent crucial steps toward equipping educators with the tools and methodologies to integrate community-focused digital practices into their teaching.
Digital Accelerator Workshop: Empowering Educators
The first highlight was the Digital Accelerator Workshop, held in October, which brought together professors from TUKE (Slovakia), UAH (Spain), and IUL (Italy). This workshop served as an opportunity for participants to explore the innovative Digital Accelerator—a core component of the DICE project. The training focused on how to use the tool effectively and incorporate its methodology into their curricula and teaching practices at higher education institutions. Through hands-on sessions and interactive discussions, educators gained valuable insights into leveraging digital tools to foster stronger connections between universities and communities.
3rd Project Meeting: Aligning for the Piloting Phase
In addition to the workshop, the 3rd Project Meeting was held to evaluate the progress of the DICE project thus far and plan the next steps. A key focus of the meeting was the alignment on the upcoming piloting phase of the Digital Accelerator, which is set to run from December 2023 to April 2024. The consortium partners discussed strategies to ensure a smooth implementation of the pilot across participating institutions and refine the Accelerator’s functionalities based on feedback gathered during the workshop.
Looking Ahead
The piloting phase represents a pivotal stage of the DICE project, as it will test the Digital Accelerator in real academic settings. By enabling educators to implement the methodology with their students and target communities, we aim to further explore and showcase the impact of digital tools in fostering meaningful community engagement.
