The Technical University of Košice (TUKE) was founded in 1952 to meet the educational and research needs of Eastern Slovakia. The University aims to maintain a harmonious and interdependent relationship between its teaching, research, and community engagement services. As a public university, TUKE has strong ties with private and public institutions, enabling it to respond to their needs as well as the requirements of society in general.
Presently, TUKE offers educational and research activities across nine faculties: the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics; the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnology; the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling; the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; the Faculty of Civil Engineering; the Faculty of Economics; the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies; the Faculty of Arts; and the Faculty of Aeronautics. The current number of students exceeds 16,000, with approximately 13,000 full-time students, including 8,500 Bachelor students, 4,000 Master students, and over 500 PhD students. Nearly 900 teachers, along with an equivalent number of research and administrative staff, work at the university. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in demand from foreign students, with students from forty countries attending the University.
Although there had been a Studium Generale approved by King Sancho IV in Alcalá since 1293, the University of Alcalá was founded in 1499 as a completely new educational project by Cardinal Cisneros, the Regent of Spain. It combined the best models of the traditions of that era – Paris and Salamanca – with other more innovative models such as the universities of Bologna and Louvain.
Today, the University of Alcalá is a medium-sized modern institution and acknowledged as a model to be imitated in Europe and America. In addition to classical humanistic studies and the social sciences, the University of Alcalá has incorporated the most modern qualifications in all scientific fields, such as Health Sciences and the various engineering sciences spread across its campuses, which with the Science and Technology Park are a decisive factor in its international profile and a boost to business in our region.
IUL online university was founded by Ministerial Decree of 2 December 2005. The IUL Telematic University offers online learning paths, ensuring a flexible, fast, intuitive learning experience, suitable for students of all kinds. The qualifications issued by IUL are recognized by the Ministry of University and Research and are equivalent to those of all Italian universities.
The strength of IUL is the organization and management of a training offer completely online that offers the high standards of traditional universities. A new comfortable, modern, and easily accessible university structure that maintains the fundamental educational relationship of direct contact between the student and his/her teacher thanks to the sophisticated technology made available to the students: the innovative and cutting-edge teaching strategies provided by INDIRE, together with the academic quality guaranteed by the University of Foggia.
ACEEU (Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities) is an international and the only body specialising in acknowledging and fostering entrepreneurial and engaged potential of universities on institutional and divisional levels.
ACEEU is dedicated to diffusing knowledge in various shapes and forms to inspire university practitioners to recognise and seize the opportunities to accelerate third mission potential and shape the future of their institution.
HELIXCONNECT EUROPE emerged in 2020 (stemming from decentralized efforts from 2018) as a need for a better hands-on approach to facilitating innovation, helping organisations grow and enabling a proper integration among innovators, NGOs, industry and government. Our vision is to link Romania, Eastern Europe and Western Balkans with the global innovation systems and enable national knowledge and technology transfer.
